Quick Update on Retired NFL Players vs. NFLPA

The Sports Business Daily reports that U.S. District Judge William Alsup upheld the jury’s verdict awarding a class of NFL retired players $28.1 million in its suit against the NFLPA We discussed the case back in November here (as is often the case, the meat of the discussion is contained in the comments).

AP reported it a few weeks ago...

what the AP reported a few weeks ago was Judge Alsup's denial of of the NFLPA's motion to set aside the verdict.

What is beeing reported today is that the NFLPA lost an appeal of an earlier ruling.

Alsup's January 13, 2009 Order can be found here.. there are some funny bits in there for those of us who can't sleep :)

Assume the PA will still appeal the verdict and other portions of the trial.

The PAs next option is to appeal to the 9th Circuit. I believe they have already said that they will appeal.
