Native Americans File for Cert in Their Challenge to the Washington Redskins Trademark is reporting that the group of Native Americans which challenged the Washington Redskins trademark have filed a petition for a writ of certiorari at the United States Supreme Court, seeking a review of the D.C. Circuit's opinion in May rejecting the challenge on laches grounds. Geoff has previously covered the case here, here, and here. The Redskins will now have 30 days to file a brief opposing the petition with the Court.

Having not yet seen a copy of the Native American group's cert petition, it is difficult to gauge the strength of their position, but in general this doesn't seem like the type of case the Supreme Court will elect to hear.
